Its been a hell of a year in many respects, so I figured I would lay upon you readers a couple fun tidbits that I’ve been enjoying recently. First is music…
This music video is from Brown Eyed Girls, a Korean Pop group that I’ve been obsessing over recently. The song is good with a hint of melancholy and the video has a nice storyline running throughout. Enjoy!
As for movies, I’ve been really enjoying the movie “8 Women”. A fun little romp in France set in the 1950’s. The musical numbers are fun and the interaction between the actresses is lovely. Enjoy!
Lastly, for literature I haven’t had the chance to read a lot considering my current location, but I did get the chance to read “Romantic Movement” by Alain de Botton.
I really enjoyed this book for its analytical breakdown of a relationship using drawings and philosophical thinking in a whimsical sort of writing. Here is a link to the book on Amazon if you’re interested in reading or buying it: http://media.us.macmillan.com/jackets/258H/9780312144036.jpg
Okay, well that’s all the spirit I’m feeling this Christmas. Enjoy you holidays and drink some eggnog for me!
The new video from Jonny McGovern aka The Gay Pimp came out earlier this week and it is very hot! The song is called “Bossy Bottom” and it makes me happy to see artists like this take it to the internet without any big record company behind them. So sit back with a bottle of Jergens lotion and enjoy!
This is a video from one of my favorite drag personas… Nature’s Candy herself, Erickatoure Aviance! It is the video for her new song, “My Pumps” which is so good I can’t describe it… just watch it!
Lately, I’ve been obsessing over men of the Asian persuasion. They are becoming more and more charming and I find myself yearning for their tender kisses and touches whenever possible. To commemorate this newfound desire, I’ve made a little video aptly (and a bit offensive) titled “Yellow Fever.” Enjoy!
There’s nothing better than reading a story that is completely based on a cliched idea, but the writing is so good that you don’t even care. Or in the case of bara manga (gay japanese comics), the drawings are so hot that sometimes you forget there’s even a story at all!
In the case of “The Family Game”, I found myself falling in lust with the story very quickly. Despite the tired cliches you’ll find in most bara mangas (i.e. old friends reunite and are longing for each other before the big gooey ending), the drawings in this story are quite enticing. I’m not one for long hair (absolutely nothing wrong with it if you like it… just not my taste), so seeing the characters look somewhat close to my ideal fantasies is a nice change of pace.
So if you’re in the mood for something fun and “exciting”, then head on over to http://baralover.110mb.com/main.htm and check them out. Nothing new has been posted in a while, but its as close as up to date as you’re going to get these days. Enjoy!
One of the few (okay, probably the only) pleasures I get out of watching sports is the game of tennis. Its a fun game that moves quickly with few voluntary penatlies thrown in to waste time by the players. If there’s one thing I despise its when players deliberately use the system to cheat in own way or another. In tennis, there is no one else to blame, but yourself if things don’t go your way. If only for the reason of relying on one’s self, I would say this is more than enough reason for me to list it.
However… there is someone who has gotten my attention… and it probably comes as a bit of a shocker…
Serena Williams
Yes, despite the fact that I am indeed a big ole ‘mo, I have been a big fan of Serena for almost 5-6 years. She has quite the compelling story what with having a death in the family, coming back from a couple bad injuries to completely cruise Sharapova at the Australian Open final 6-1, 6-2. Right now she’s working her mojo on the US Open and I have no doubt that she can pull off another win here. Go Serena!!
I love me some fucked up musicians that tend to gag me with their videos, and these two Korean pop artists are close to being added to that list…
Brown Eyed Girls- Abracadabra
The song is hot and the video is so fierce that one can only hope they make an English version and transport this over to the states asap!
G-Dragon – Heartbreaker
This one is growing one me. At first I was caught off guard by the complete androgenous look at the beginning of the video with the apple tree, but the rest of the video is pretty cool. Get into it…
Ever had a friendship with a person who you weren’t quite sure felt more for you just as you did for them? In this installment of Bara Manga Extravaganza, I found a bara manga called, “Since the Day We Met.” Its about a young man who finds an old friend by happenstance and things get a little complicated…
Long lost love
Its a touching story that makes those many failed fantasies of lost love come true, even if for just a moment. The ending is funny and heartfelt, and I highly recommend anyone to check it out at baralover.110mb.com/main.htm .
If there is one thing I don’t think I’ll ever give up, it is my love of the generic, cliched, and over-glorified dance songs that litter my iTunes library. For the longest time, my dance songs stayed in the closet with me while I hid my sexuality and my true self. Now I don’t hold back and sometimes abuse my friends with these little jewels that make me smile and want to dance a little here and there. My latest dance song obsession is the new album from Cascada: Evacuate the Dancefloor…
Cascada's New Album
If you’re looking for deep meaningful songs about death and peace on earth… you should probably move along. However, if like me, you love a little dance and wiggle when you’re cleaning the house, this album will do the trick. The songs are poptastic and can get you moving without much effort. While I do love a good powerful ballad with so much meaning and heartache, a little shallow BPM never hurt anybody. You can find more information about her at http://www.cascada-music.de/ and she has both Myspace and Twitter pages to get into. Before I go, here’s the video for the smash dance hit ironically titled, Evacuate the Dancefloor…
